Adult Sunday School Classes
We have a variety of Sunday School classes for various stages of life. Each class has their own style, personality, and activity level. Each class is located in the room that bears its name.
Potpourri-The Potpourri class is made up of class members ranging in age from 40 something to 80 something. We are from all walks of life and enjoy spending time together each Sunday morning studying the word of God. Dean Meadows, a retired minister, teaches our class by sharing scripture and helping us to apply it to our everyday lives. Our class is very interactive and enjoys discussing our views with each other. We gather outside of Sunday School various times of year for cookouts, caroling, and dinner parties. We welcome you to join a fun loving group of people who love the Lord and each other.
J.O.Y.- Jesus, Others, Yourself. The JOY Class is for all ages and studies scripture based on specific topics. They support the Gale Wetzel prison ministry, the Methodist Children's Home and the Foundry. They enjoy social time together outside the class; laugh, cry and pray together. JOY welcomes anyone who wants to learn more about Jesus.
Dorsey- Named for a pioneer of Christ Church and the first teacher, George Dorsey, the Dorsey class contains the most senior members of the congregation. The class' primary focus is the study of the Bible, using prescribed curriculum, with discussion among classmembers. The class supports the Methodist Children's Home and the Salvation Army with weekly donations.
Journey-The Journey is made up of parents (and parents-to-be) who are raising children.
Bible-In the Bible class, we work our way through chapters of the Bible. We enjoy lively discussions and study from different versions from the Bible.
Garden-The Garden class is named for missionary George Garden. The class begins with sharing prayer concerns followed by a prayer time. Our lesson involves studying Scripture with discussion and assistance from commentaries or other sources that might aid our understsanding. In addition, we give aid to missions and other worthwhile projects in our church and community. Let's not forget our fun and fellowship!
